Dear European Watch Enthusiasts,
Starting July 1, 2026, the European Union will begin levying customs duties on all parcels entering EU territory — regardless of value. The long-standing duty-free exemption for packages valued under €150 will officially come to an end.
We understand this news may raise some concerns: Will buying a BERNY watch still be as easy as before?
The answer is: Yes — and everything stays the same.
What's Actually Changing with the EU's New Customs Policy?
Previously, small parcels shipped from non-EU countries such as China — valued below €150 — were exempt from import duties. This policy had long made cross-border shopping convenient for customers across Europe.
However, the EU Council formally passed a resolution in late 2025 to abolish this exemption starting July 1, 2026. From that date, customs duties will apply to all parcels entering the EU, in order to maintain a level playing field within the European market.
In practical terms: every item shipped from outside the EU will be subject to import duties upon customs clearance.
BERNY's Commitment: We Cover the Duties
In response to this policy change, we have made a clear decision:
We are fully transitioning to DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping.
In simple terms, this means:
-
✅ The price you see is the price you pay — nothing more
-
✅ All customs duties and clearance fees are prepaid by BERNY
-
✅ No additional charges upon delivery
-
✅ Your shopping experience remains exactly the same — and even more transparent
The price displayed at checkout is your total. Full stop.
Questions You Might Have
Q: Will product prices go up?
We will make pricing adjustments based on the applicable customs duty rates for each EU country, in order to cover the associated costs. We will keep any adjustments as reasonable as possible, and we remain committed to offering you the most competitive prices available.
Q: Do I need to handle customs clearance myself?
Not at all. Under DDP shipping, all customs documentation is submitted on your behalf. Every step of the clearance process is handled by BERNY and our logistics partners — all you need to do is wait for your package to arrive.
Q: When does this policy take effect?
The new policy takes effect on July 1, 2026. Orders that arrive in the EU before this date will continue to be processed under the existing rules.
Q: Which EU countries are affected?
All 27 EU member states are affected, including major markets such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands.
