Shortly after graduating from university, Fred Chu travelled to Bern, Switzerland. There, surrounded by the character, discipline, and quiet beauty of watchmaking culture, he discovered a lasting fascination with the craft of time.

That experience stayed with him. Returning to China, he chose to devote himself to watchmaking—believing that thoughtful design and dependable craftsmanship should be part of everyday life.

In Shenzhen, Fred Chu founded BERNY, named in tribute to the city of Bern and its enduring watchmaking spirit.

From the beginning, BERNY was built on a simple belief: a well-made watch should bring together practical performance, considered design, and a sense of personal connection.

Over the years, BERNY has grown with the people who wear our watches. From our roots in Shenzhen’s watchmaking community to wrists around the world, we continue to refine what a modern watch can be.
